This is a training issue; he does not need medications. Medicated an 8 month old puppy is not recommended. Please get a dog trainer to help you train Henry properly. Aggression needs to be taken very seriously especially with this breed or you will be in trouble when he bites someone. Your vet may be able to give you a recommendation for a trainer or maybe your local pet shop.

It is definitely possible to start some training. If he is showing signs of aggression I would recommend consulting a trainer or behaviorist who will do some one on one training in your home. You could ask your veterinarian who they recommend. I also find neutering to be helpful for many types of aggression. You could set up an appointment with the behaviorist and get their opinion and ask your veterinarian as well. It might take a lot of work but many dogs can do quite well with training depending on how severe the aggression is.

Fear and aggression are both often due to underlying fear and/or anxiety. Working with a trainer will help you learn how to correct behaviors in a way that doesn't exacerbate anxiety or fear. It may be helpful to discuss anti-anxiety medication with your veterinarian as well. What you are describing is not normal, but working with behavior modification techniques and possibly with medication could be very helpful. I sent i. A message yesterday !! i have a Beauceron puppy 1 1/2 yrs old , very aggressive and now he has bitten everybody in the house . He bit my roomate in the face , not serious but , its stiil the fact hes biting!! what should we do ????
I strongly recommend you consult with a professional, in-home dog trainer. You need a trainer to come to your house and see the behavior and the interaction of everyone with Crowley. This is your best bet. Aggression problems need special care and it is not recommended that you try to correct this on your own. You may give him the wrong signals and make him worse. Especially with his breed you need to do this right from the start. You should also consider having him neutered as this often helps as well. Hello, i have a rat terrior around 9 months. We have had him for a few weeks now and can be very sweet at times but he tends to come off aggressive, not sociable at all with other people or dogs and has bitten our young children a few times from them
I am sorry you are struggling with Chico. I would highly recommend bringing a trainer into the house after making sure a physical exam by a veterinarian is normal. Behavioral issues/ training takes a lot of time and patience. I feel having someone come into the home and observe the situations where he is anxious and aggressive will help. Also recommend getting him neutered as soon as possible.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. I am sorry to hear about Blue, but you are not alone! This type of behavior is usually related to fear - fear that is so extreme that the pet has no choice but fight or flight. It often leads to aggression. The bad news is that an expensive trainer may not be able to help Blue anyways because her fear level is so high. The good news is that there are several great anti-anxiety medications that can make a HUGE difference in Blue's life. Not only will they reduce fear (and therefore aggression), but they will make whatever training you try MUCH more effective. (Pets cannot learn when they are scared). My favorites are amitiptyline and trazadone, but there are others available. Talk to your vet about what is available and reasonable to try for Blue. I am sorry you all are going through this with such a young dog. I am not sure what is available to you in India but in the united states I would recommend taking Prince to a vet to make sure he does not have any underlying health issues that might be coming out as aggression. Than I would recommend getting him in advanced aggression training. This would involve working with a dog trainer who specializes in aggression. The fear is with such a young dog if left unaddressed it could get worse. I would try and start working with him in other areas and try to keep him from sitting close to certain people that trigger his aggression. Hope this helps

As an unneutered male, he is starting to feel the effects of male hormones, which can manifest in aggressive behavior. You can try to help him acclimate to other dogs by introducing them in a controlled manner, with both dogs on leashes and through a fence initially until you can see how they will react to one another. Some barking and growling is normal but by reassuring them both without getting too excited can help. The more excited you become, the more he will, and he may feel he needs to be protective of you. Additionally, work with your dog away from other dogs. Play, take him for runs (Huskies are born runners and are very high energy, as I'm sure you are aware.), get him involved in obedience, play fetch, get him involved in dog agility, flyball, anything and everything to keep him well exercised and tied. If you have a dog with severe aggression, you will not be able to resolve the problem with medications alone. Any severe problem requires medication while you are doing intensive behavioral training. Then, once you have the problem well controlled with the medication, you can slowly taper the medication. For aggression, I always recommend working with a veterinary behaviorist. I would recommend consulting with a veterinary behaviorist ASAP for this problem with Bongo. A veterinary behaviorist is a veterinarian who has additional years of training in behavior. They can also prescribe or change medications if needed. Because Milo is still so young there is definitely time to correct her aggressive behavior. You should start with basic training commands (sit/stay/come) to help establish the fact that you are the one in charge. It is also important to make sure she is getting plenty of exercise. You should take her on fast-paced walks for 20-30 minutes at least twice a day. I would also recommend that you seek the help of a veterinary behaviorist to help you identify and treat Milo's underlying problem. Good luck.

I would advise taking him to your veterinarian for their opinion also. He may have some medical reason for his sudden onset of aggression. Your vet can gather a history, perform an exam and then offer a diagnostic/treatment plan based on their findings. Possible tests include fecal/blood/urine tests and x-rays to look for underlying medical problems that could cause aggression.
