My dog's breast cancer returned. Why in the same place after surgery?

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 13 years and 3 months old | 8 lbs

my dog has had breast caner in the same place now twice? i dont understand why it came back in the same place when both breast was removed? there now suggesting a third opp shes 13 please help

Sometimes during surgery it is difficult to remove all the cancer cells. Cells are microscopic and unless very wide margins were taken at surgery some cells may have been left behind. It is not necessarily the vet's fault. Cancer is difficult. The same thing happens in humans. Age is not a disease, if she is relatively in good health there is no reason for her to be unable to have surgery.
