Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 27 days old | 90 lbs

my puppy has a bump on his eye, it’s red and irritated and sometimes i looks like it’s bleeding. im wondering if it’s allergies because he is a pure breed dog or if it’s something i should be concerned about.

this lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Another less invasive option in this case is to treat with an anti-inflammatory or antibiotic medication first. Differentials would include the result of a trauma, skin cysts and infections, but allergic reaction would be less likely given the location.
