My dog hit his dew claw. He's limping. Is it broken or sprained?

My dog hit his dew claw todays and he let out a small cry when he did it but it didn’t bleed or anything he was limping a little bit but is licking it does that mean it’s broken and will fall off or will it just heal? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 25 lbs

If that nail doesn't look broken, it's likely that he pulled at the ligaments and they are sore, but that he won't loose the nail. If he continues to limp tomorrow, I'd recommend a check up for x-rays because it may have damaged other toes at the same time, or may just need a little pain medicine to get him through a minor hurt.
