My dog is suddenly eating less food. Is she being picky or unwell?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 years and 4 months old | 13.2 lbs

Anouk usually finishes all of her food in one sitting and immediately after it is put out, but since about Tuesday she’s only been eating about half of her food when first fed and then she picks at the rest. There is still food in her bowl by the time she is due to be fed the next time and she has not been vocal about wanting to be fed which is unusual for her. She hadn’t vomited and she is not having diarrhea; I don’t know if she’s being picky or if there’s something else going on.

Hi, has anything changed in the environment ? For example is the weather hotter than previously ? Does she still have same access to food and resources and outside (if going outside)? If nothing has changed there is the possibility that she is feeling under the weather and I would recommend to have her checked over.
