My dog's nipple is red, inflamed, and looks like a pimple. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 67 lbs

My dog has had an irritation/ inflammation around one of nipples. He is a 3 year old male mix weighing about 70lbs. He has had the soar for a little over a week. It appears as though the nipple resembles a pimple about to burst and the area directly around his nipple is red and slightly inflamed. It doesn’t seem to be causing him any pain and he hasn’t had any changes in his eating/sleeping habits. We live in Florida and he will go to the dog park and play with other dogs as well.

This looks like a mild skin infection/inflammation. I suggest you use these medicated pads on it. If after about a week to 10 days of use, the lesion is not better or looks worse then your vet should examine him.
