My 3-month shelter kitten with URI won't eat or drink. Help!

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2.9 lbs

Have a 3 month kitten from shelter. He's an URI and see vet in 4 days. But right now he has not eaten in since we have brought him home today is day two. Giving him the food that the shelter fed dry with water on it but has not eaten also has not had water today. Was playful in the morning but mostly sleeping all day. Worried. How to get him to eat.

Poor Kyle. I recommend to call his veterinarian and tell them what is going on. They may add on medication to soothe his stomach, an appetite stimulant or they may ask to examine him again to check for/treat and ongoing fever. Since he is not wanting to eat on his own, he needs medication to help him recover. I hope this helps and that he starts feeling better quickly.
