Neighborhood cat has a sore spot and missing hair. Does he need a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 12 lbs

We have a neighborhood cat that many neighbors take care of. I have noticed a spot that seemed to be missing hair prior and today he came over with a sore. Should he be taken to a vet or is this something that may be can heal on its own?

Boomerang’s wound looks infected. This could be from a fight with another cat which could cause a more serious abscess. I recommend to go ahead and have him examined and treated at the veterinarians office. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
