Why is my puppy pooping blood after eating a milk bone treat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 12 lbs

Hello, my puppy is pooping blood at the end of her stool. She ate a milk bone accidentally and has had kinda bloody stool since. Is this of concern? It has been getting significantly less. Happening for 2 days now

Poor girl. Bloody stool indicates at the very least that there is inflammation of the intestinal tract. It is likely the milk bone did not agree with her GI tract, but wasn't enough to cause severe illness. In these cases it is good practice to at least start a short course of antibiotics and probiotics to help things return to normal quickly. Therefore, I would recommend taking Lexy in to your vet to get her checked out and on medication. You can in the meantime start some probiotics (Culturelle over the counter or Fortilora/Proviable at your local pet store). I do hope that your fur baby's stools return to normal soon. Best wishes and take care.
