My dog ate Lyrica 50mg. Is it dangerous? Should I make him vomit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 6 months and 24 days old | 40 lbs

Our dog may have swallowed medication. We aren't sure if we should use hydrogen peroxide since he has no symptoms. It was either part of a rice cake or small white pill (Lyrica 50 mg).

Hi, Lyrica (pregabalin) is also used in dogs as a new promising anti epileptic drug for dogs that have intolerance or no benefits to the most common used drugs. It is normally prescribed at 2-3 mg/kg. I would therefore not worry about Howie having ingested a single 50 mg tablet, it woud not put him in any danger apart from drowsiness and lethargy. If he should be already taking other medications himself I would suggest that you contact the animal poison control (888)426-4435.
