Why did my guppy die at the tank bottom and not float or get stuck?

My yellow guppy fish died today. I saw him this morning at the bottom of the tank and he was stuck under a pebble. I removed the pebble and he swam around in circles. I came home and he was dead at the bottom of the tank. Why didn’t he float? And why’d he get stuck when he seemed healthy? Pet's info: Fish | Tropical Fish | 3 months and 24 days old

Thanks for reaching out about Gilger. Sorry for your loss. My thoughts are that Gilger was weak and ill, and became stuck under the rock. Causes of this range from water quality problems to viral infections, but water testing and a necropsy are the only ways to come to a conclusion. Test the water quality for pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. Good luck.
