Should I give my kitten penicillin for an upper respiratory infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 15 days old

If my kitten has upper resperatory infection will penicillin help? My cousin works in rescue and always uses penicillin on sick dogs and cats she knows the correct dosage she’s weighed him and she’s gonna give me some penicillin for him will it clear up the infection?

Hello. Penicillin is a good antibiotic, but it is not always appropriate in every instance. If you trust your cousin, then OK, but the fastest way to get a proper diagnosis & the correct treatment is to see your veterinarian. Hope Gandalf is feeling better soon.
