What are the signs of wheezing in pet birds: nares, eyes, breathing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed

what are the early and full blown symptoms of wheezing in pet birds, do the nares run, watery eyes not being hungry, do these symptoms exsist all of the time? If there is is a clicking sound when breathing will these symptoms occur all the time? Will the bird stay at the bottom of the cage and puffed up when having trouble breathing or wheezing? Does wheezing happen occasionally also, even if it happens occasionally will the nares run, watery eyes, going to the bottom of the cage not eating?

That greatly depends on the individual bird, and what illness is causing their symptoms. If Peaches is having any of the above symptoms you listed, such as wheezing, strange noises with breathing, staying fluffed up or at the bottom of the cage, etc, it is best to seek veterinary care in person ASAP for an exam.
