What you are seeing is the third eyelid which is elevated. The third eyelid shows like this when the animal is sick and/or in pain. It is not necessarily an eye problem. It could be any illness causing this. The kitten really needs to see a vet if at all possible. ( https://www.tampabayvets.net/questions/cats-3rd-eyelid-showing/ )

Hello, Yes, this kitten needs to be seen by a vet. This is an elevated third eyelid and this can happen with neurological disorders or internal parasites. Your vet can best guide you after a physical exam. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Fox. Yes, a kitten's third eyelid can be elevated secondary to an infection. However, this can also be a sign of a more serious condition such as a corneal ulcer. I recommend he sees his veterinarian to have a dye test performed to ensure that he does not have a scratch across the surface of his eye. I hope this information helps!
