Is strawberry banana Pedialyte safe for my dog with diarrhea?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 6 lbs

My dog has been having diarrhea, it seems a mixture of brown, green, and yellow. I wanted to know if it is safe to give strawberry banana flavor pedialyte. It’s pretty hot here and that’s the only flavor I have at the moment. I’m not sure why the diarrhea started, he has been eating his usual food.

I don’t recommend to give any flavored Pedialyte as it can cause further stomach upset and some of them may contain a toxic sweetener called xylitol. When pets have diarrhea beyond two days, they need to be examined by the veterinarian as shifts in the bacterial flora tend to occur and will continue the diarrhea regardless of the initial cause. Continuing diarrhea can be a sign of many different disease conditions. Bring in a sample of stool for testing. I hope this helps.
