How to help my cat who became timid and scared after neutering?

So i have 2 male cats who got neutered recently. They were born both feral but they're not aggressive, but very friendly. One of them is very curious and roams inside the house, but the other one is very cautious, timid and gets scared very easily. He actually used to be the one that was always near the house but now he leaves for most of the day, while the other one stays. He used to be very open to us but now he's just alert all the time and rarely lets us pet him. What do i do? Pet's info: Cat | Aegean | Male | neutered | 7.7 lbs
