Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 75 lbs
Will a small amount of pork fat make my dog sick? He's a two year old 75 pound lab. He ate a piece of pork fat about the size of a quarter. He's fine now, only happened 30 minutes ago. I am concerned because earlier this year I had to take him to the vet for pancreatitis for eating beef fat. That time he ate more than today. Should he be ok? Is there something I can give him to prevent a problem?

There is the potential the pork fat could make Charlie sick, and it could cause him pancreatitis again. I would monitor him and if you do see signs of pancreatitis, take him into a vet immediately. You could take him into a vet now to have vomiting induced to get the fat out so there won't be any problems. Best of luck.

Oh no, that's not good that Tootsie ate that bit of fat. You are right that it could cause her some GI upset in the form of vomiting or diarrhea. Of more concern is that this fat could cause pancreatitis, which is inflammation of the pancreas. I can give you a home remedy to try in case she does get some GI upset. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Oh no, that's not good Cheetah ate all the meat! This could easily lead her to be sick, or it could cause pancreatitis. The best thing to do is take her into a vet now to have vomiting induced to prevent her from getting sick from it. The other option is to watch her, and see if it does make her sick in the form of vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, and lethargy. If you do see those signs, then you have to take her into a vet right away. Best of luck, I hope this helps.
