Injured kitten peeing blood, vet found no internal bleeding. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 20 days old

Yesterday we found a kitten with a broken leg and a fractured pelvis. The vet took X-rays and saw no sign of internal bleeding. However there is blood when he pees. What could be causing this?

Poor Otis. I recommend to have Otis examined by the veterinarian again today. Sometimes the bladder can be injured or even ruptured and the blood could be related to that and may need to be addressed quickly. The doctor may need to take another radiograph to check for a bladder rupture. I hope he gets better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.
