Can my medium dog eat large breed Royal Canin Maxi Adult food safely?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chow Chow | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 2 months old | 44 lbs

My chow chow is medium size dog and certainly not a working dog. Can i feed him MAXI ADULT FOOD OF DOYAL CANIN? Im forced to feed him this kind or change the diet brand completely. Cause im living in iran and because of importing issues we cant have all kinds for a long time it seems and my boy has been on ROYAL CANIN MEDIUM ADULT for almost 2 years. Please let me know is it healthy for him?? Im asking because MAXI ADULT is for LARGE dogs and WORKING DOGS

If it is your only option, I think you are fine feeding the Maxi adult food. I am not as concerned with large breed vs medium breed vs small breed in adult dogs as I am in puppies. The biggest difference in these adult diets are the size of the kibble (the bigger the better, in my opinion!) and possibly the fat content. You may need to adjust how much you are feeding Heisenberg (use the guidelines on the bag) and his body condition.
