Cat ear polyp: Can Benadryl provide immediate inflammation relief?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 11 years and 3 months old | 10.5 lbs

My cat has an ear polyp. I can’t afford surgery right now. she is on a steroid and a tresederm, also a daily ear wash. She does wear a collar as well. Is there anything I can do for the inflammation immediately. Can I give her Benadryl? Other than this ear issue she is 11 yrs old, great health.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Musha. Benadryl is used for allergic reactions, and not for polyps. In addition, without seeing her in person, I can't say if it's safe to give to her or not. The steroid should help with the inflammation, so I would not give her any additional medication. Best of luck.
