My dog hates neck insulin shots. Can I inject her in the thigh?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Lhasa Apso | Female | 4 years and 1 month old

My dog has diabetes. She’s extremely angry when I try to inject her in the neck and have found it more tolerable to give her it in her thigh. Is this it ok to give her insulin here?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Mia. It does not matter where the insulin injection is given as long as it goes underneath the skin. If it is more comfortable to give her injection elsewhere on her body, this should not be a problem. I hope this information helps!
