First time traveling long-term with dogs? Do they need a passport?

I’m going to Boston (USA) for 3 months or longer with my dogs I’ve never done this before how do I take them? Who do I need to contact? Where do I apply? Do they need a passport?

They don't need a passport. Contact the airline you are using for their requirements. They either need nothing or a health certificate from your vet saying they are healthy that will allow them to fly. The cost to travel depends on the airline. ( https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/before-you-book/how-to-book-your-pet-onto-a-flight.html ) I strongly recommend you get them rabies vaccinated 30 days prior to travel. Heartworm, flea and tick prevention are recommended for the time period you will be there. Talk to your vet about getting the vaccine done and getting some heartworm, flea/tick prevention products. This are not required to fly but are recommended to protect your pets in the new environment.
