My dog keeps licking her tail wound. Should I use a cone to heal?

My pup has a bad cut on her tail and keeps licking/biting off the scab. I put dog antiseptic on it about 3-4 times a day and wash it everytime after we play outside. Should I put a cone on to stop her from biting it to let it heal? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 40 lbs
