Is 6.5 weeks too young for a puppy to leave its mother and litter?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 17 days old

I received a puppy as a birthday present this year, and she arrived at my house on the 14th July. She was born on the 30th May, making her 6.5 weeks old when she came to me. Is this too young for my puppy to be separated from the litter/her mother? And should I be concerned for her health/development? Thank you in advance

It is recommended that puppies not be weaned until 8 weeks of age. It should not necessarily affect her health per se, but her development, maybe. There is no way for me to know if Sprout with develop any of these issues. I suggest you refer to this article for more information.
