My rescued kitten has a raw paw. Should I cover it or let him lick?

I have a kitten that I rescued with what appears to be a burned paw. The back paw is raw and the pad is gone. Do I cover it or let him lick it and leave it be? He’s already on amoxicillin for mouth stitches from a lip injury.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Tequila. No, do not let him lick it, it will make it much worse. This will be quite painful to him, and he has to see a vet to have this treated. Please cover it to protect it, and take him into a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
