My cat is squinting one eye. Is it a scratch? Can I use eye ointment?

Cat squinting one eye? This evening my cat has been going in and off between squinting one eye. I’ve held her and looked and the eye itself looks fine. I don’t notice any redness. I am wondering if the kitten scratched it while they were playing. Is there anything else that could cause this? I have some eye ointment we got from the vet when she had a cold. Would this hurt the eye if there is a scratch in it? Thanks in advance!

Yes, Evie could have had her eye scratched playing with the kitten. I would avoid putting an ointment on it as it may make things worse. Have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
