My dog's loose teeth don't seem to hurt him. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 4 years and 4 months old | 7 lbs

I’ve noticed that two of my dog’s bottom teeth (2nd and 3rd from the left in photo) are loose and wiggle in his gums. Is this something I should be concerned about? If so, is it treatable by a veterinarian? In the three years I’ve had him he hasn’t shown any signs of pain, discomfort, loss of appetite, or difficulty biting/chewing rawhide, food, and toys. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Yes, this will be causing Squeakers pain and discomfort, and it's not normal. It suggests severe dental disease. This can be treated by a vet by having the teeth removed, and the vet can do a dental cleaning, scaling, and polishing. I'd take him into a vet in the morning. I hope this helps!
