My dog has perianal fistula. Is Zignature food safe for his heart?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old | 88 lbs

My German Shepherd has perianal fistula. We have been feeding him canned and dry turkey from Zignature with no grain, however, it is all over the news Zignature may cause heart problems. Should we stop feeding him this product? We are very limited with his disease. Thank you!

This is a discussion you should be having with your vet. Your vet is much more able to answer this question as they have all of Maximus's medical history. You guys need to decide if there is another good diet option for him or if it is not worth it to change the diet. I cannot answer this for you. If your dog had no underlying health issues I would say to change the diet absolutely but since he has a medical issue you need to consult with your vet.
