My Westie has skin/digestive issues. Should I try a fresh food diet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | West Highland White Terrier | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 1 month old | 18.5 lbs

Hello. I'm an owner of a West Highland White Terrier. She's having some digestive and skin conditions where she sometimes vomit. I'm considering switching her diet from dry dog food kibble to a fresh food subscription plan provided by a company. Here are the details of the fresh food meal. May you please give me some advice on whether I should go for the fresh food subscription plan. They claimed that their meal exceed the aafco standard. Attached is my dog's info and the fresh food profile.

You are certainly welcome to try this food. As long as it meets AAFCO standards I am OK with it. Just DO NOT use the grain free option. I can't guarantee this diet change will help her conditions. I would give her 8-12 weeks on the new diet to determine if it is helping or not. If after 12 weeks, her symptoms have not improved then the diet was not likely the problem. Skin issues are very common in Westies and are usually due to underlying allergies. I would suggest you have her allergy tested if that is available in your country.
