My gecko's tail tip is shriveled. Is it injured? Will it grow back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Reptile | Gecko | Female

While I was feeding the geckos a cricket jumped up onto me and scared me so i dropped the little bowl i pour them into into the terrarium and i think it may have fallen on the tip one of my gecko’s tails. She was shaking the end of her tail immediately after which i looked up and found was a sign that they’re feeling threatened so I didn’t worry too much about her being injured but now, a few weeks later, it’s all shriveled at the end (she’s my brother’s so not sure if this is new or not).

Yes, that appears to be an injury to the tail tip but what it is from, I do not know. It may or may not have been the bowl incident. I would not be too worried. The shriveled piece may fall off but since lizards can regenerate their injured tail it will grow back. If that happens feel free to post again and we can help you more. At this point do not do anything to it, just monitor. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
