My cat has raised, scaly patches. Is it ringworm or dermatitis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 21 days old | 8 lbs

We are wondering if Salem has ringworm? He keeps getting raised, scaley patches. He has very sensitive skin. So a harsh skin topical isn't great. We've been using apple cider vinegar rubs. Any other recommendations? The photos are the smaller bumps. He does have larger ones.

Those are possibly ringworm but they could also be miliary dermatitis. I recommend to have him tested for ringwomr so you know at least if thats what you need to treat. Here is a link about miliary dermatitis: https://www.petcoach.co/article/feline-miliary-dermatitis-in-cats/ Your veterinarian can help you to decide which cause of dermatitis to hunt down first. Best of luck.
