My dog got stung by ground bees he has hives on him. I gave him a cold bath and a benadryl what should I do?

If the symptoms don't seem to bad and if he isn't lethargic or having problems breathing just wait 2-3 hours, it should start getting better by then. in any case of respiratory problems or lethargy you must take him to the vet urgently.

For now just monitor her closely, the swelling will probably get worse but should start getting better within 2 hours. as long as she is not lethargic i would recommend keeping her calm at home and monitor the swelling and her general state until it gets better. it will remain painful for 24-48 hours. if the vomiting happens a few more times or if she becomes lethargic- take her to the emergency vet urgently.

If he is eating and drinking and resting well then you can watch him for another 24 hours. He may be scared or feeling bad due to try allergic reaction he experienced. If he is not back to normal then I would take him to the vet

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if your dog becomes lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine/steroid injection. from your description at this moment i think he is probably fine, but this can change so monitor him closely.

You would probably see the signs of an allergic reaction in an hour or two - watch for facial swelling, redness around the eyes or muzzle, and hives. If you notice these signs you should see a veterinarian right away. Fortunately anaphylactic reactions are very rare in dogs, but signs of anaphylaxis would include difficulty breathing, severe vomiting and diarrhea and/or collapse.

You can cool the area where the sting is with some ice wrapped in a cloth. This will take the pain and reduce the swelling. By tomorrow the area should look normal again. If your puppy starts to vomit, gets breathing problems or appears ill, you will need to take it to a pet ER for treatment.

Nanook got stung by yellow jacket bee. It was about. 3 hours ago. His face is puffy... Administered 40mg benedryl. He happily ate ice cubes and a couple oatmeal cookies. His personality seems Normal.. sleepy now from benedryl. I wouldn't be asking

Sorry to hear about Nanook! I'm sure you are very worried. The k9st important thing is that he hasn't taken an anaphylactic reaction to the sting which would be an emergency and happens fairly quickly. Obviously he has swollen a little in response to it but aside from minor discomfortthis won't do him any harm as long as his airway is clear. It sounds like you are taking great care of him and at this stage all the vet could really do would be administer a steroid injection to try and stop the allergic reaction. He should be absolutely fine and the dwelling should settle over the next few days. Definitely still keep an eye on him though in case the swelling does get worse.

I took my dog for a walk around the neighborhood today and she started with one hive in her face and now has many I gave her a bath and small dose of Benadryl is that what I should be doing

This is fine, but if this hives continue, she starts having facial swelling, and/or difficulty breathing, then she will need to see a vet immediately as she will need stronger medications such as steroids to control the reaction.

You should call your vet and give him/her an update. If the hives started after giving the antibiotics then your vet may want to switch to a different antibiotic in case it is an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Your vet may also want to prescribe a corticosteroid to help treat.

I believe my dog was stung by a bee. Her eyes are very swollen and the side of her mouth is extremely swollen. I gave her Benadryl. What should I do now? Vet? At home things I can do? How long will the swelling last?

Benadryl is definitely appropriate at home. Heading in to the vet is definitely the safest option in case the swelling continues - they will likely give her an injection of steroids and benadryl and monitor her for a few minutes. If you don't go to the vet, watch her over the next couple hours for worsening of the swelling, and go to a vet if it's getting worse at any point. With facial swelling we worry about her throat swelling as well and her not being able to breath.

It does look like a bad case of hives. The problem with allergic reactions is that they often get worse, and can lead to breathing difficulties. Due to this, I would take Bruno into an urgent after hours clinic now.
