My senior cat is suffering. How do I know when to say goodbye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 15 years and 6 months old | 13 lbs

My 15 year old cat has arthritis and limping. Lately she has been eliminating everywhere. She vomits a couple times a month. She gets stressed when I leave, and I'm going to get married soon and move out. I don't know how she will do. I hate thinking about putting her down, but is it the right choice?

I'm sorry you are faced with making this decision. It is always tough. The best thing to do is to assess her quality of life. If her quality of life is poor then you know it's "time". I think these links will help you more. Best wishes.
