My puppy ate a piece of rubber bone. Should I worry about obstruction?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 8 months and 17 days old | 17 lbs

My 9 month old puppy ate the end of a soft rubber bone. The piece was approx 1cm squared but it has rounded edges. I’ve read horror stories so am getting quite worried Will she be ok?

Unfortunately without seeing Cozy in person, I can't say for certain she will be ok. This may pass without problem, but it could cause an obstruction. If you see vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, an inability to pass poop, or lethargy, have her seen by a vet immediately. Best of luck.
