My dog ate his Lacri-Lube eye medication. Is it safe for him?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Whippet | Male | neutered | 7 years old

My dog managed to get ahold of his dry eye medication (Lacri-Lube), and ate some of it. I don’t know how much he ate, but it seems like most of it got on his bed. He destroyed the box and I can’t seem to find the ingredients online, so I can’t find out if it’s toxic for him. I’ve tried ringing all the vets around where I live, but they’re all closed. He seems okay, he hasn’t changed at all, it’s been around an hour or so since he ate it.

Hello. Lacri-Lube contains mineral oil & petrolatum, both of which are completely harmless if consumed. You & Busta have absolutely nothing to worry about ( except purchasing another tube ). Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
