Why are my dog's eye/mouth allergies worsening? Benadryl isn't working.

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 60 lbs

Do you by any chance know what this could be? It’s only on his eyes and mouth. We went to the vet for it a little over a year ago and they said it was just allergies and to give him Benadryl 2x a day. It went away for a little bit in the winter but it’s only seem to get worse. He scratches like crazy and sometimes he even bleeds. Could he be allergic to pollen since it’s only around summer/spring? And how could I prevent it from getting this bad or worse if it is? Thanks!

This could be related to the previous episode if it is allergies. Skin mites and ringworm can also look like this. If the Benedryl is not controlling the itching, I recommend to have Toby examined by the veterinarian for a medication like Apoquel or Cytopoint which will do a better job controlling the itching (which sounds very severe for poor Toby). Starting him on an omega 3 fatty acid supplement will also help. I hope he starts feeling better quickly!
