What can be used on a dog, that sweats excessively? She even sweats after being bathed, and starts to stink again.

Hi there. Dogs don't sweat through their skin, only their paw pads - so if Mollie has a persistent odor, this is likely due to some other problem such as a bacterial or fungal skin infection, impacted anal glands, an ear infection, or some other issue. I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam to determine what is causing the odor. He/she should be able to prescribe a medicated shampoo or other treatment for the underlying problem, depending on what is found.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is interesting as usually puppies do smell pretty good. I’d have her checked out by a veterinarian to make sure it’s not something like a yeast infection in the ear (or anywhere else) and to check the mouth and anal glands. Otherwise be sure to use a shampoo made for dogs as the acidity of a dogs skin is much different than human skin and human soaps can actually be unhealthy for dogs. Bathe up to once a week but NOT more often (unless your vet says otherwise). There are also scented wipes and sprays that have help them smell good. Hope his helps and best of luck to you and Lido!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I wonder if it could be her anal glands. The anal glands can smell like pretty much anything-fishy to musky. Dogs with allergies can also have anal gland issues. Call your Vet and see if they or the technicians can check her anal glands and express them if full. Good luck!

Congrats on your new dog, but I'm sorry Belle is smelly! The smell could be caused by a skin infection, which a bath and a spray won't treat. I would have her seen by a vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose if she is suffering from a skin infection, and can prescribe medication for it.
