My bunny's skin ripped after a fight. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Female | unspayed

She has recently had a fight with another bigger bunny and the bigger bunny ripped her skin/fur off and all I can see is red baldness. I don’t feel like I need to take her to the vet. So what should I do?

A photo may better help us evaluate Lucy. Rabbits have very thin skin and it is easy for them to get what is called a "degloving" injury where the skin tears and pulls away exposing the underlying tissue. If this is the case, and the skin itself is ripped open, then Lucy needs and exam at a veterinarian for wound care.
