Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered

My pit bull Ace who’s about a year and a half now has a weird patch on the side of his face it looks like it’s letting out some type of puss and it’s losing fur I put peroxide on it to try to help it but nothings happened and he’s been really sluggish but I don’t know if that’s because summer just started where I live and it’s pretty hot

That spot on Ace could be several things including allergies, skin mites, flea bites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash his whole body, just the spot). Protect the area from licking or scratching with an elizabethan collar. If it doesn't start looking better within about a week or if it gets worse, have him examined by his veterinarian who may prescribe medications. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.
