Kitten laser declaw recovery: When to pick up & separate cats?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 months and 8 days old

I’m dropping my kitten off at the vet on Thursday July 18 for a laser declaw. Would I be able to bring her home around 7:30 am the next day? I have an older cat who will be 2, should I also separate them when I bring the kitten home from the procedure and for how long?

The pick up time varies from clinic to clinic based upon the medications/sedatives used. You will need to check with your veterinarian to establish the pick up time. Yes, you will need to separate the cats so they do not play or the other cat does not try to pull on the surgical sites. Marvel will need to wear an elizabethan collar and will need to be kept from running/jumping or climbing. He will also need a special cat litter until the sites are healed. healing typically takes 2 weeks. I hope this helps.
