Dog bite: How to check for hidden injuries if my dog seems okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

charlie used to be good friends with a german shepherd puppy, but now she’s fully grown and has become not so friendly. she saw him today and kind of bit his back and grabbed him from his middle (i had to pull in order to get him under her because she was trying to bite and growling). he doesn’t seem in pain and i can’t find anything on him. how can i make sure he’s not hurt?

The only way you have to make sure nothing has happen is to either check thoroughly the skin in the next 24-48hours (some wounds like this one could actually show up after a while) or have him checked by your local vet. Bite wounds are by definition infected so antibiotics might be needed.
