My cat has UTI symptoms and isn't peeing. What should I do now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 3 years and 9 months old

I think my cat has a uti. She has been drinking and eating a lot but has not been going to the bathroom. She has been very lethargic and has been sleeping a lot. I have a vet appointment in 2 days for her but I'm concerned she needs help faster. She peed earlier in the day but only a little and I tried to use compresses to make her pee but it isn't aoeking. What should i do? Please help, I'm concerned for her. Thank you.

That sounds worrisome that she is either not producing urine or that she is unable to urinate. Both of these conditions are serious. I recommend to play it safe and to have Layla examined today. You may need to get her in with another clinic or even an emergency clinic. The doctor will need to palpate her bladder and run bloodwork and a urinalysis. It's best to play it safe. I hope she gets better quickly. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
