My cat was attacked. Is a hard, crusty scab normal for healing?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | 4 years and 3 months old | 21 lbs

Wound may have been missed? My cat got attacked Friday and was treated at vet on sunday the 6/30. He received Convenia, rabies and anti inflammation injections. Wound area shaved and cleaned and he has been indoors since then recovering. Yesterday I discovered a crusty feeling scab under his coat. It does not seem to hurt when in touch it but it's hard feeling. Any advice as to do something or leave heal naturally? Also, how do his wounds look to you. Pics sent God bless & sincere thanks

If it is not painful and it is not soft and squishy (like an abscess) and he is eating/drinking and acting normally then I would suggest that you just leave it alone. Looks like he healed up just fine! Best wishes!
