My dog is limping again, vet said swelling. When to go back?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old

Today I noticed that my dog began limping and was not putting any pressure on her right hind leg. This has been an issue before and we took her to the vet, they did x-rays on her and found no fracture or broken leg. The vet said it was just swelling. Should I wait for the inflammation to go down? Or should I take her to the vet?

If it just started you can let her rest for a few days with minimal walking and minimal physical exercise, if it does not improve within 3-4 days you will have to take her to the vet in order to get it checked and treated, she might need pain killers for a few days. if the vet think it's something more serious such as a fracture, joint injury or foreign body, he might recommend to have an xray done as well.
