Should I return a sick, feral cat to its colony after vet care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

There is a cat colony/hoarding situation in my town. I rescued of the cats and he turned out to be jaundice, anemic, hasn’t eaten in days, FIV positive, and was about to die. He is going to live but I don’t know what to do with him once he’s out of the vet. Should I release him back to his colony? He is super feral since he’s healing.

You are so lovely to take this boy into the vet! Have him neutered so that he doesn't reproduce, and if you don't think he would be happy living with you, you will have to release him back to his colony.
