What's this pink lump on my senior dog's dewclaw? Vet anxiety.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Bulldog | Male | neutered | 10 years old | 70 lbs

My dog has a pinkish color lump by his dewclaw. He suffers from a log of skin allergies and has many skin tags that are the same color. The bump however, seemed to appear out of nowhere. My dog is ten years old and had a histiocytoma when he was a puppy, though it looks similar everywhere I read says it is not common in older dogs. It is soft to the touch and doesn't seem to bother him when walking or at all for that matter. I am not opposed to the vet but he gets very anxious in his old age.

It does kind of have the appearance of a histiocytoma. While it is not common in older dogs it’s not impossible for it to be one, especially since he had one as a puppy. But due to his age, it really could be any number of things including a cancerous tumor. So my recommendation would be for you to have your vet take a look at it and do an aspirate of that mass to see if it is just a Histiocytoma or something worse.
