My cat is in heat, but vet said pregnant. Can she be both? Is spaying safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Sparkle, Siamese mix, 1 year old, my question was I had a blood test done -Kitty Aids/ Leukemia and she was negative, but the vet said she was pregnant, now that vet is unavailable. She has been in heat for almost 2 weeks. Can she be in heat and be pregnant, and your vet said no, that she could have a false pregnancy or an infection of the uterus. Another answer here said yes, it is rare but one ovary could be in estrus. Nipples protrude only, If pregnant will spaying her jeopardize her health?

Ok, the question got confusing at the end so I'm sorry if I don't fully answer you. The answer is no, she cannot be pregnant and in heat at the same time. It is impossible. I suggest you have her spayed. It is a bit more risky of a surgery to spay them while pregnant or in-heat but I have done it thousands of times with no issues. If you are planning on spaying her, then I suggest you do so now.
