My dog scratches, has bleeding sores. Is it a flea allergy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 16 lbs

lately my dog has been scratching a lot and on his skin have appeared certain sores that bleed. At first I thought it was an animal that had bitten him but it is not like that. the strangest thing of all is that I approached to check in an area of his skin where it itched a lot, but there was nothing and when I started scratching in that area suddenly became very red and out of nowhere it started to bleed, I did not scratch that hard for this to happen and scared me a little, why is this?

This looks like a classic flea allergy. I know the bleeding scared you but I would not be overly concerned with how easily it bled. That is fairly normal for this problem in my opinion. I don't know what products you have available to you in Columbia to recommend anything for you. You will need to consult with a local vet. Here is a link to an article that may help you. If you have more questions you can always opt for a private consultation where we can chat back and forth. That way you can ask as many questions as you'd like. Best wishes.
