My dog heaves after eating, no vomit, just mucus. Should I call vet?

My dog is 2 years old. Out of no where he started breathing in really violently and acting like he was going to vomit. Like heaving. But he didn’t throw anything up. A little bit of mucus came out once. Otherwise he is acting completely normal. He is fine but after he eats something, he does it again, then after a few seconds he’s fine again. What could this be? Emergency vet trip? Can it wait until tomorrow morning? He’s acting normally otherwise. Normal breathing, not panting. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 28 lbs

It could be James is feeling nauseous and wants to vomit, but nothing is coming up. Given that he is completely normal otherwise, I would watch him for now and take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Best of luck.
