Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 6 years and 7 months old | 50 lbs
My 6 yr old Siberian has had intermittent loose stool; one day it’s completely normal, another it’s very loose/mushy, and another it’s half and half. Her blood work/x-rays are completely normal, she had a course of metronidazole about two weeks ago, but is still having inconsistent stool; I’m considering putting her on a higher fibre food to see if that helps. Also have her on a pre/probiotic for about a week as well. Any suggestions on what could be causing this or treatment?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Nova. A diet change seems like a reasonable next step. I would try a prescription food that has higher fiber such as Purina ProPlan Veterinary Diets EN Fiber Response. If this does not solve the problem, then I would recommend a blood panel to assess pancreatic values as well as cobalamin and folate levels. This are vitamins that are used in digestion. Severe GI will cause changes in these values. She may need an abdominal ultrasound as well. I hope this information helps
